Nintendo Switch: Stop Using Alcohol-Based Products to Clean, Here’s Why

It’s no surprise that the Nintendo Switch lineup of consoles are currently the popular hybrid or handheld gaming machine one can buy. Well, most of the Switch users, nowadays, are using alcohol-based products to clean the surface. It makes sense considering the massive coronavirus outbreak and the need to disinfect in order to keep yourself safe. As per Nintendo Japan, it is unsafe to disinfect the Switch console and Joy-Con controller with alcohol-based products.

The Japanese customer service recently posted on its official Twitter account clarifying it since most of the users are asking the same question all over the web. As per the brand, the plastic parts of the console and controller might fade in color or deform with the use of alcohol.

Furthermore, the company also discarded the use of non-alcoholic disinfecting sheets. It seems like some disinfecting sheets might end up damaging your precious console. This, of course, depends on the ingredients.

If not alcoholic or non-alcoholic, then what to use to take care of your Switch console. Well, the recommended product is a soft dry cloth. Most of the users out there might not like the idea of simply using a soft dry cloth. In this scenario, you can try your luck with the non-recommended solutions. But make sure to think before proceeding further since you now know the risks.
