God of War mobile? A recruitment notice indicates PlayStation Mobile revival

Sony can take its successful PlayStation franchises, such as God of War, Uncharted, and Horizon, to the mobile segment. This is what indicates a recent recruitment notice posted by the Japanese giant. It is looking for a boss for the PlayStation Mobile sector.

The position says that the professional will be responsible for “developing a mobile game strategy for PlayStation Studios”. In addition, the division leader will have the mission of adapting the “successful franchises” for smartphones. The market of mobile games has greatly evolved in the last few years, and the pandemic has accelerated the growth. Many studios are starting to adapt and bring mobile versions of popular franchises. It’s not a surprise to see that Sony is interested in this particular segment.

Sony made success with the PSP, PlayStation Portable, but the PS Vita was considered a great failure. Now, the company may revive its mobile division using smartphones.

“Do you want to lead the development and strategy of mobile games and help shape the future of games for a world-class studio? As Head of PlayStation Mobile, you will develop the mobile game strategy for PlayStation Studios and help build a foundation for future growth opportunities. You will lead all aspects of expanding our game production, from consoles and PCs to mobile services, with a focus on successfully adapting our popular franchises to mobile devices.”

PlayStation Mobile

Of course, don’t hold your breath for popular franchises on mobile just yet. After all, the job recruitment will bring a leader that will “develop and build a strategy for PlayStation Mobile”. So, this is something that still is on paper. It may take a couple of years to bring the first fruits.
