Free Fire banned in India

Free Fire India

Free Fire first went unavailable on app stores for the people in India. Some folks also complained about connectivity issues. However, it was unknown if it was really a ban or a server-side error. But now it’s official that Free Fire is no longer available for India. It is not the first time that India has banned China-linked applications. In the past, we have seen a lot of applications and games getting banned. PUBG Mobile under Tencent was also once banned in India. Later, Krafton re-launched the game in India.

The developers are surely going to lose a lot. According to App Annie, Ā Free Fire had over 40 million of its 75 million global monthly active users in India in January. Garena was also quite active in hosting tournaments throughout the country. We have seen a lot of collaborations with Indian celebrities as well. Just recently, Free Fire released a song for its Indian audience.

As we have seen in the past, the ban from India doesn’t go away. And if Free Fire wants to get back to the country, the game might have to do what PUBG did. Anyways, Free Fire Max, which is an enhanced version of the game is still available on the Google Play Store. BGMI, the biggest rival of Free Fire is surely going to benefit a lot from the ban.
