Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet were announced back in February. The announcement of the games was a surprise since Pokemon recently released their new game called Pokemon Arceus. Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are the mainstream Pokemon games and will represent the 9th Generation. Now, the second trailer of the upcoming games has been released. Thanks to the trailer, we now know more about the game, especially the two new legendary Pokemon.
New legendaries suggest time travel
Koraidon and Miraidon are the two new legendries. Pokemon Scarlet players will get Koraidon, while Miraidon is exclusive to Pokemon Violet. In my opinion, they look a lot like Digimons. We don’t know much about the legendaries, however, their description reads “These two Pokémon are said to have powers that far surpass those of other Pokémon.”
There is a mixed reaction to the design of the new legendaries. At first look, both of them looked like motorcycles to me. The circular spoked segment on Koraidon’s torso looks a whole lot like wheels. Miraidon, meanwhile, seems to have a set of jet-engine boosters.
Interestingly, “Koraide” means “from ancient times” and “Miraide” means “in the future” in the Japanese language. This highly suggests that these games will be based on time travel. After this translation, even their motorcycle-inspired design makes sense. Imagine riding these Pokemons and going to different times.
The types of both Pokemons are not revealed yet. However, since both of them are some form of reptile/lizard creatures, there is a chance they can be Dragon type. But that would be boring. In my opinion, Miraidon can be a steel/electric type. The claws of Miraidon suggest that it could be steel, while the yellow highlights justify the electric type.
For Koraidon, there are red highlights which highly suggest a fire type. The secondary type could be fighting or rock. If it’s fighting type, it would be a huge advantage over Miraidon. Hence, I am betting on the fire/rock type. The fire type of Koraidon will dominate Miraidon’s steel type. While Miraidon’s steel form will be an advantage over Koraidon’s rock type. Therefore, making it much more balanced.
