Spellbreak servers will be closed in 2023

In a statement shared this Tuesday (28), developer Proletariat confirmed that it will close the Spellbreak servers in 2023. Available since 2018 in early access and since 2020 for PS4, the battle royale struggled to keep up in the current multiplayer scenario and did not will be continued on consoles and PC.

According to the studio, the decision was made due to problems that the game has been encountering to meet the player base. With few changes to its business model and almost sparse updates since 2020, the magic and combat title has failed to keep up with the competition. Check out the Proletariat’s note below:

“After more than four years of elemental magic and spell combinations, we’ve made the decision to end development on Spellbreak. Servers will shut down in early 2023. Thanks to the millions of players who have joined us in Hollow Lands since 2018; it’s been an incredible journey.

Spellbreak

Spellbreak was an ambitious project that saw our team push new boundaries in design and development and we are excited to continue to innovate as we create new titles in the future.”

In battle royale, players exchange firearms for elemental spells. The title features fantasy scenarios, several characters with unique abilities, and versatile gameplay, where you can combine spells into magical gauntlets and use devastating powers. It had an innovative idea, but unfortunately, failed to keep up with other games in the genre.
