Circus Electrique, steampunk Darkest Dungeon, coming for PS4

Developer Zen Studios has announced that Circus Electrique will launch on September 6 for PS4 and PS5. Inspired by Darkest Dungeon, the steampunk RPG will be based on turn-based battles and will have difficulty as its main element, requiring strategic and preventive progression.

In the game, players will control numerous circus characters in a futuristic version of London. After machines take over one of the biggest attractions in the country, a group of 14 artists gathers to fight them, using tools, weapons, unique abilities, and other battle mechanics.

Each Circus Electrique class will be represented by one of the circus shows. Clowns, trapeze artists, magicians, animals, tamers, tightrope walkers, and various other members of the show will be available in the character selection. However, despite the variety of heroes, you will need to assess your position in the party queue and how your fighting style is able to help the team advance.

In addition to the combat itself, Circus Electrique will feature a morale-boosting system very similar to combat fatigue in Darkest Dungeon. To keep the heroes at their best, you’ll need to run circus shows and earn income, which includes items, accessories, money, relationship improvements, skill bonuses, and more.

The title will also explore dungeon-style progression mechanics, where rooms will contain traps, mysteries to explore, clues to stretches, and fights against all kinds of enemies. The sets promise to be gigantic and should offer numerous navigation routes, allowing artists to obtain more or fewer resources depending on the track performed.
