User Joy Japan has just announced an RPG game for smartphones. It’s not simply a random title, but it’s a “The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel” game for mobile devices. The new entry in this massive series of titles is dubbed “Northern War”. It is exclusive for smartphones and will launch in 2023 in Japan.

In addition to the story of the anime, the mobile game will feature an original story and new characters. The tactical orbment system “ARCUS II” introduced in The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III Will also be implemented. Players will be able to explore the world while progressing through the story. They’ll experience the “pure emotion and exhilaration” of the Trails of Cold Steel series’ battles on mobile devices.

There is more than just a mobile game coming for this title. In fact, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel – Northern War anime will begin on January 8, 2023. The anime will certainly detail the plot more than the mobile game of the series.

For now, we are curious to see if the game will be a full “single-player-based” RPG experience, or if there will be gacha elements. Nowadays, there are so many gachas based on popular franchises. It’s hard to expect a full game experience on mobile.
