John Romero, the creator of the DOOM and Quake franchises, is working on an FPS that promises to revolutionize the gaming industry. In an interview at Gamelab Tenerife (via Game Reactor), the head of Romero Games gave more details about the project and changed the current development results.
According to him, his next project will be created entirely based on the Unreal Engine 5 graphics engine, made for the new generation of consoles. Additionally, the shooter will have a major publishing partner, with more details to be announced soon.
“That is all! I can’t say more about that, it’s not my job to promote this game, but it was a lot of fun working on it and we made some really cool stuff. The goal of making a shooter is like, ‘What are we doing? doing new things that people haven’t done before’, so that’s one of the things that drives this game: doing some new things in the genre.”
The studio is also currently hiring for several openings, according to an announcement posted on social media. However, there is no more news shared about the original IP of the creator of DOOM.
