Valorant Drops Support For These Operating Systems

Despite the high competition, Valorant grabbed a lot of attention in the first-person shooter niche. Not only is the game a fun FPS but also a leading title in the esports category. Valorant is a go-to title for many esports tournaments due to its competitive element. However, it is not just about the gameplay that makes Valorant unique. The developer of the game, Riot Games has given special importance to the security side. I will be blunt about this: This game has no compromise on security!

Valorant will not support older versions of Windows

Valorant will not work on these Windows versions anymore

This is a game that will make you stick to the screen and skip washroom breaks as there is a high penalty even on leaving rounds. Moreover, the game gives you days of penalty if you exit the game. This is what makes Valorant a great title with respect to e-sports. Now, Riot Games is even pushing further with the announcement that Valorant will no longer work on older Windows versions.

Not only Windows 7 but Windows 8 and 8.1 will no longer be supported by Valorant. The reason? Well, of course, the developer says it’s for better security. For those unaware, Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 are no longer supported by Microsoft. This means no security patches and could result in vulnerabilities. Hence, Riot Games don’t want any risk. The game will still run on Windows 10, as Microsoft will give security patches until October 2025.

I am one of those players who think that Valorant has harsh rules. The developer is quite strict about the rules and regulations. Moreover, the Riot Vanguard software has even faced some criticism due to its kernel-level access. But when I think about it from an e-sports perspective, it completely makes sense. Well, that being said, if you are using an older version of Windows maybe it’s time to upgrade!
