Lovers of classic Disney Racing games like the cult-classic Disney Speedway USA have been waiting to see the iconic characters competing in a racing game again. If Nintendo can do so with Mario Kart, and Crash succeeded with Crash Team Racing, Disney can do the same. Apparently, that gave birth to Disney Speedstorm. It seems to be a racing game featuring a huge amount of Disney Characters from Mulan to Jack Sparrow. It will be a live-service game with some packages being sold adding skins and characters. We are curious to see if this model will succeed, but apparently, there is some hype around it. After a delay in December, the game is ready for “early access” on April 18th.
Disney Speedstorm enters the “early access” stage
The Disney Speedstorm will be on early access for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC. If you plan to join the fun, you can pre-order the standard founder’s pack for $29,99. Alternatively, you can get the deluxe or ultimate packages for $49.99 / $69.99. The game will also be released as a free-to-play title at a later date.
In addition to getting access to the game, these packs will also give you some extra racers, some can be chosen by you. You will also get some tokens, in-game currency, golden pass credits, exclusive founder-karts, suits, and more.
As per the developers, Disney Speedstorm stands as the “ultimate” hero-based combat racing game filled with Disney and Pixar characters & tracks. It will support solo, local play, and even remote multiplayer modes. It will allow you to face off against other races around the globe. You can race for the best scores and become the best of the best.
We are curious to see if Disney Speedstorm will become a success or will stay stagnant in this sea of competitive online games. It already has a lot of classic characters. The fan-service factor may help a lot. We are curious to see if the promised graphics improvements will already be available with the upcoming early access version of the game.
