Bandai Namco is doing everything to keep the hype alive for the upcoming Tekken 8. The legendary fighting game series that basically set the rules for 3D fighting games is about to get a new entry. The new game will bring several graphics improvements and gameplay improvements. We expect to see new characters, but of course, it will also bring back the classic characters of the franchise. Apart from the obvious Jim Kazama, the game is revealing some of the characters that will make way to the game. Today, a new trailer confirms that King is back in the game.
The Pro-Wrestler King returns on Tekken 8
The character is popular and inspired by the Iconic Japanese wrestler Tiger Mask. As usual, we have the iconic character featuring a set of wrestling moves. The gameplay trailer shows the new look of the character. It also shows some scenes with its signature moves. The updated “catch” move set of the character brings familiar moves. Among them, we can list the Atomic Drop, Knee Cross Lock, Choke Slam, Suplex, Back Slam, STF, Boston Grab, and more. Those who remember the classic character from the very first Tekken entries will be glad to see it one more time on modern consoles.
To those unaware, Tekken 8 is in development for the PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC via Steam. The game will serve as a sequel to 2017’s Tekken 7. It brings an upgrade for the graphics thanks to the latest Unreal Engine. So far, there is still no launch window for the game. But considering the number of teasers, we expect it to launch in 2023. Bandai Namco already confirmed a plethora of characters. Among them, we have Jin Kazama, Jun Kazama, Kazuya Mishima, Paul Phoenix, Marshall Law, King, Lars Alexandersson, and Jack-8. This, of course, is just the beginning. We expect a large roster of players, and as usual in modern fighting games, more will likely join through DLCs and Seasonal Passes.
We also expect some unusual fighters to join the franchise. To recall, Tekken 7 brought Noctis Lucis Caelum from FFXV and Negan from The Walking Dead TV series.
