Counter Strike 2: Valve’s trademark teases game’s launch

Counter-Strike is a timeless classic that keeps engaging players across the world. Yeah, it’s impressive how this IP managed to survive after 23 years. It got several updates that improved the FPS game and the most recent CS: GO update, but it seems that the biggest update yet is finally coming. After 23 years, it seems that Valve is ready to move on and launch Counter-Strike 2. The rumors about the new game have been gaining special strength in the past few weeks. Now, a new trademark is the biggest hint of the game’s launch.

Is Counter-Strike 2 coming? New evidence suggests so

A few weeks back, a new report suggested the launch of a new version of CS: Go. This particular version could come as Counter-Strike 2. However, there was no official info coming from Valve, Steam, or anyone directly involved with the project. However, some leakers have stepped up to report that “a new version of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive” was on its way. The report said that it is “almost certainly set to be released under the working title of Counter-Strike 2”.

Now the rumors are gaining more force. A new post from PCGN revealed that Valve Corporation has filed a US trademark application for “CS2”. Valve seemingly submitted the claim on March 14. Right now, it is currently waiting for the verdict of an “examining attorney”. It will then decide whether the trademark application will get approval. Worth noting that this is not the most interesting part of the patent filing. The fresh application refers to two “related properties” that already have trademark approval. These IPs are not detailed, but their numbers are S857738 and 5857740. These refer to Counter-Strike and CS: Go.

Although it would be great to see the launch of a new installment. It’s hard to say whether this is a full-fledged sequel dubbed Counter-Strike 2, or just an incremental update for CS: GO. Right now, we will need to wait for further official information. Anyway, it seems that Counter-Strike fans have good reasons to be hyped.

More about Counter-Strike

In case you’ve been living in a rock and never hear about CS we can shed some light. The game is a popular multiplayer tactical first-person shooter. It has been around for several years and evolved over time. The latest version is Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO). It features new maps, characters, weapons, and game modes.

Valve has been involved with Counter-Strike since its early days. The game was initially developed and released as a Half-Life modification by Minh Le and Jess Cliffe, who was later hired by the company. Since then, Valve has sponsored Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Major Championships with large prize pools, making them the most prestigious tournaments in CS: GO. Valve also became involved when Counter-Strike’s regular player numbers surpassed commercially released online action games like Quake III.

Counter-Strike 2

Counter-Strike involves two opposing teams – The Terrorists and the Counter-Terrorists – that compete in objective-based gameplay. Players can earn XP by playing in official game modes and ranking up their CS: GO profile. The original game is also available on Steam for those who want to experience the classic vibes of the 2000s game.

To play Counter-Strike, you can start by logging into Steam and downloading the game. Once you have the game installed, you can start playing by selecting a game mode and joining a server. The goal for the Terrorists is to complete objectives or eliminate all Counter-Terrorists. Similarly, the Counter-Terrorists must prevent the Terrorists from completing their objectives or crush them all. Players can earn money by killing enemy players, planting/defusing bombs, and winning rounds. This money can be used to buy better weapons and equipment.
