Valve recently announced Counter-Strike 2. It came out as a surprise and was a moment of joy for the gaming community. The developer is currently hosting a limited test of the game. This is the only way players are able to get a sneak peek. However, there is no registration page or any kind of region-based testing. Rather, Valve has chosen a completely different system. It will automatically inform players eligible for the test. Valve said that players are chosen by this criteria: “recent playtime on Valve official servers, trust factor, and Steam account standing.”
The first eye-catching requirement of the Counter-Strike 2 test is recent playtime. Now there are many players including myself who haven’t played in recent times. Since we wanted to be a part of the test, we started playing more CS: GO to tick the requirement of recent playtime. However, Valve has now said it is of no use.
Valve has officially crushed the dreams of many players. Those who started playing CS: GO once again have this message from the developer:
Idling on official matchmaking servers in CS:GO does not increase your chances of making into the CS2 Limited Test. The playtime that counts was your playtime prior to the start of the Limited Test.”
Want to play CS2? Patience is your only friend.
It turns out the recent playtime is not counted after the announcement of CS2. Hence, people like me are already out of the Counter-Strike 2 test. However, if we think hard about it, this is actually making sense. Valve wants the hardcore CS: GO players to test the CS2 first. They can get more useful insights from those who play CS: GO on a regular basis. Hence, don’t get disappointed if you did not get invited to the test. The game will be available to everyone soon enough. You can check out more details on how Counter-Strike 2 differs from CS: GO in my previous article.
