There is a critical bug on Resident Evil 4 that can break your save

Resident Evil 4 Remake is already out for players. The game is proving to be a huge success and one of the best choices Capcom had for remakes in recent years. The game has already sold over 3 million copies during the past few days. This number is impressive, after all, the game is making its first week of availability today. The game scored high on Metacritic and has everything to be among the best games of 2023. However, not even this masterpiece is free from bugs. Players on the PS5 already experience some issues with the graphics and lighting, and Capcom promised to fix these bugs. Now, it seems that there is a critical bug in the game that can compromise the whole experience.

During an investigation to spot possible bugs, Capcom came across a critical issue. It seems that there is a bug on Resident Evil 4 Remake that may break the game’s progress. The studio made public advice to leave players aware while it works on a possible fix. According to Capcom, there is an error in Chapter 12 of the game’s campaign. It’s related to the collection of a Key Item.

In the statement, the publisher confirms that the problem has been identified in all versions of the game and prevents fans from advancing in the story. The workaround to avoid this issue is rather… intriguing. As per Capcom, you should not use the knife until that item is properly stored in the inventory.

Capcom alerts Resident Evil 4 players to be aware of the bug. According to the company, this problem happens in specific circumstances. They are working on a fix and apologize for any inconvenience this issue can cause.

“We can confirm this issue can appear on all platforms. It can prevent progress when certain actions are made in a specific area. One cutscene will play at the start of Chapter 2, and right after that, you will get a Key Item. Please, avoid using the knife until you get the notification about this item in the upper right corner of your screen. After you get the item, it will appear in the Key Items and Treasures section of the Case. If it did not appear, reload your save before Chapter 12. We are working on a fix for this issue. It will come through a future update, for now, try the above method. Once the patch arrives, players will be able to continue their progress even with older save data.”

The game is up for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC. The issue can affect all players, so the best thing to do is to follow Capcom’s advice. I suggest you also keep more than just one save, it will keep you safe if anything goes sketchy.

Resident Evil 4 is a commercial success

Capcom’s latest release is definitively off to a great start. The game surpasses a 3 million sales figure in just two days of its release. Considering this impressive feature, and that the game has just one week of availability, we expect the numbers to be even more impressive in a few months.

To put things in perspective, the original game had to be available for an entire year to get this sales figure. The reboot version took only two days so. But of course, this is thanks to the legacy that the original came carried over all those years. Almost 20 years after its launch, Resident Evil 4 was always one of the most popular games in the franchise. It was launched for basically every platform since the Game Cube and even got a VR version.

Resident Evil 4

According to Capcom,  the survival horror series crossed 135 million shipments and the latest game will probably help this number to grow further. For a quick comparison, the game is doing better than the previous remakes. Resident Evil 2 took almost a week to reach 3 million sales.

We are curious to see how these numbers will grow in the forthcoming months. Perhaps, this can be the best-selling game in all Resident Evil series.
