Mortal Kombat 12: Peacemaker could be among the fighters

Although NetherRealm Studios is yet to confirm the Mortal Kombat 12 reveal, the rumors keep spreading. While NetherRealm keeps silent, with just a few cryptic teasers, Warner Bros’ CEO, David Zaslav, went ahead. The executive recently confirmed the game’s launch for this year during a meeting with shareholders.

Since Mortal Kombat 9, the company established a very well-accepted tradition of guest fighters. This part of the roster gained special traction with Mortal Kombat 11, and we expect MK 12 to keep the quality. To recall, MK 9 brought fighters like Freddy Krueger, the PS3 version got Kratos. With Mortal Kombat X, the invited fighters were Predator, Alien, Jason, and Leatherface. The last game brought a series of interesting fighters, out of the franchise, such as Spawn, Joker, Rambo, Robocop, and Terminator. There were some rumors about Ash Williams from Evil Dead, but apparently, the partnership never materialized in something. Now, it seems that the MK 12 will keep the quality with more guests from other franchises.

Peacemaker from Suicide Squad could join the Mortal Kombat 12 roster

As per the journalist Jez Corden from WindowsCentral, Mortal Kombat 12 will be revealed during the PlayStation Showcase. The next big event from PlayStation will make a series of reveals and is set to happen in May. Although the event lacks confirmation, the rumors keep spreading.

Peacemaker

On Twitter, Greg Miller, from Kinda Funny, made a post about the Peacemaker. To those unaware, he is an anti-hero from DC Comics and is portrayed by John Cena in the Suicide Squad movie. Answering the post, Corden made a note that “It would be cool if Peacemaker was a playable fighter in a new fighting game”.

Although this is not a confirmation of his presence at Mortal Kombat 12, it would not be so hard to pick this game as a strong candidate. In fact, he is a strong candidate for the game. After all, NetherRealm is part of the WB Games that also takes care of DC Comics Games. The other possibility is that Peacemaker will appear in a possible Injustice 3. But right now, Mortal Kombat 12 seems to be the most plausible launch from NetherRealm.

The arrival of the fighter would also make sense from a business perspective. There is a new Suicide Squad game coming soon, and apart from the HBO Max show, we also have the reboot of the DC Universe. So, it won’t be a surprise if WB Games try to keep the DC characters alive in a strong franchise such as Mortal Kombat.

Right now, we should treat this info as a rumor. Anyway, it’s nice to start guessing which fighters will join the MK 12 roster. We don’t expect Shaggy to come, anyway.
