Mortal Kombat 1: Alleged reboot had more details confirmed [Rumor]

As previously teased, it seems that Mortal Kombat 12 will be, in fact, a reboot of the series. Now, we have a very popular tipster giving more details about this alleged reboot. The insider in question is Billbil-kun, which gained popularity for always revealing PS Plus games with precision. According to him, the new game will be dubbed “Mortal Kombat 1”.

Mortal Kombat 1 – A new beginning for the series

Take in mind that these are just rumors, and we don’t have official information from NetherRealm. However, they seem to “fall in line” with recent teasers. The most recent one showed a clock that was slowly moving to the 12th Hour, it suddens jump straight to 1, re-starting the count. With a possible “Mortal Kombat 1” title, the game would basically be re-starting the count, and maybe more than that. As per the insider, there will be versions for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC. Apparently, the Switch is the only “last-gen console” to survive here.

The tipster also cites three versions of the game – Standard, Premium, and Kollector. The former would cost about $69,99 for the PS5 and Xbox Series, and $59,99 for the Switch. The Premium Editio and the Kollector would cost $109,99 and $249.99, respectively. We assume that the Premium would bring some extra stuff like a possible DLC with more fighters. The Collector, on the other hand, could bring some extra items.

As per the source, the announcement should be closed. The rumors point to a reveal for the PlayStation Showcase. However, even Sony’s possible event is nothing but a rumor right now. While official information does not come, we should keep treating these as mere rumors.

Arnold could be back as Conan

The game has not been announced yet, but the rumors are already spreading. Besides the new name, we also have possible details on upcoming DLC fighters. Apparently, the next entry will keep betting on special guests to complete the roster of fighters.

Back in the last week, we heard about the possibility of DC’s Peacemaker appearing in the game. Now, recent rumors, point to the arrival of The Boys’ Homelander and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Conan. These are two very interesting arrivals.

Mortal Kombat 1

Worth noting that this would be the second time we see Conan appearing in the game. We don’t see a reason for it not being portrayed by Schwarzenegger, but the actor already made his appearance in the series as Terminator. It would be interesting to see his return, this time, as another fighter.

The info comes from Jez Cordon from the podcast The Xbox Two. He says that he “heard about Conan, the Barbarian, being a playable character”. However, he does not say if this will be Arnold’s version of Conan or the Book version.

Homelander, for the first time, on video-games

Besides Conan, we also have another report from Windows Central, where a launch timeline for September 2023 is mentioned. Honestly, this sounds too optimistic. But to recall, Warner Bros CEO recently mentioned the launch of a new Mortal Kombat game in 2023 to the shareholders. Besides the possible launch timeline, the source also seemingly “confirms” Homelander on the game.

“We heard that the first Kombat Pack will bring characters from different franchises belonging to Warner Bros. That includes Peacemaker, from DC Universe, and perhaps, Homelander, from the Comic Book series The Boys. There are also other unconfirmed guests.”

Homelander saw a boost in popularity with the success of Amazon’s The Boys series. Peacemaker, on the other hand, made an appearance in the latest Suicide Squad movie and has a TV show on HBO Max. It would be interesting to see both characters being portrayed by the actors behind the show. In Peacemaker’s case, we would see John Cena.
