NVIDIA CEO: Next Gen GPUs will be made by TSMC

If you’re a PC gamer or enthusiast, you know how relevant NVIDIA is in the GPU market. Although competition is rising, the NVIDIA RTX GPUs still have the preference of many consumers across the world. According to a new report, there are significant changes with the next generation of NVIDIA GPUs. The company’s CEO, Jensen Huang, revealed during a Q&A at Computex that his company’s next-gen GPUs will be made at TSMC. Despite the rumors, nothing is changing and the company will stay with TSMC for the time being.

NVIDIA will still rely on TSMC for future GPUs

According to a Reuters report (via), CEO Jensen Huang told the press that he feels safe by relying heavily on TSMC and that his next-gen chips will be made at TSMC. This announcement comes exactly when Taiwan is at risk of a possible military threat from China. Are we going to face another crisis in the GPUs market?

Currently, all of NVIDIA’s GPUs are fabricated on TSMC’s cutting-edge nodes, and that will continue in the future. During the Computex, NVIDIA disclosed its GPU roadmap. It shows that the Hopper-Next chips will arrive in 2024 and rumors have that it will use the 3nm process node. Nothing is set in stone and this is open to changes in the future. The codename for the next-gen GPUs is also expected to be Blackwell.

"When I was here, in all of our supply chain discussions, we feel perfectly safe," Huang told reporters on the sidelines of a technology event in Taipei, when asked about the political risk of the world relying so much on Taiwan for chips given the China tensions.

"The process of diversifying in different geographies is an excellent strategy by TSMC and so TSMC is now part of Nvidia's diversity and redundancy strategy."

We are curious to hear more details about NVIDIA’s future GPUs. The company may bring these details to us later this year. For now, gamers will keep being served with the RTX 40 series while they wait for the future RTX 50 series.

Apart from the GPU business, NVIDIA is trending thanks to its AI push. The company now is part of a select Trillion dollar club of companies. The AI tech has “propelled” the company to new heights. Apart from this, Jensen Huan states that gamers will not be forgotten. This is still NVIDIA’s major backbone for business.
