Xbox Showcase promises to bring games, not just CGI or Movie trailers

In late May, we had the PlayStation Showcase that brought some game announcements and news on Spider-Man 2. However, not all PlayStation fans were pleased with the games shown at the event. There were many third-party games, and not much focus was put into the PS Studios games. The ones that appeared were mostly CGI with no actual gameplay. To make players even more upset, Sony took some minutes of the event to show a trailer for the Gran Turismo Movie – A trailer that has been available on YouTube for a while. Now, a Microsoft marketing executive seems to be making fun of promising a stunning Xbox Showcase that brings what actually the fans are waiting for – games and gameplay.

Xbox Showcase will bring Games and nothing else

During the Summer Games Fest 2023, which will kickstart on June 8, the Xbox Games Showcase and Starfield Direct will happen. It promises much news on upcoming Xbox titles, and as the name clearly suggests, we expect to see the largest showcase for Starfield so far. Players are waiting to finally see some gameplay for Bethesda’s promising RPG.

In response to Xbox fans on Twitter, Aaron Greenberg said that “none of our first-party games in the show are full CG trailers”. He also clarified that there will be “no movie or TV show trailers in our games show”. This certainly sounds like a direct allusion to the recent PlayStation Showcase.

“Everything is either in-game footage, in-engine footage, or in-game footage with some cinematics,” Greenberg continued. “Each of our trailers will be labeled so it is hopefully clear for our fans.”

This time around, it seems that Xbox players will finally see the plans for future games. The exec states that we will be seeing games that are set to launch more than a year away. The two events combined will last “roughly two hours”.

Besides Starfield, which promises to be the star of the event, we expect news on the Forza Motorsport series. Furthermore, there should be news for the long-awaited Hellblade 2. The sequel for Senua’s Sacrifice has been expected for years as it was used to reveal the Xbox Series X back in the TGA 2019. We don’t know if the game is coming in 2023, but we hope to see news on its development.
