When it comes to gaming, mobile is mainly thought to be a second-tier device. However, lately, smartphones are becoming more powerful than ever. Also, the trend of handheld consoles promotes adapting portable gaming. When it comes to the smartphone market, Apple is known to be the king. With its recent launch event, the company has also shown a high interest in mobile gaming.
300 Billion Dollar industry by 2028
During the pandemic, many industries faced a downhill. This was also a sad time for PC gamers as there was a GPU shortage. However, mobile gaming during this time increased more than ever. According to a report by GlobeNewswire, Mobile Gaming Market size is expected to grow from USD 141.71 billion in 2023 to USD 300.47 billion by 2028, at a CAGR of 16.22% during the forecast period (2023-2028).
Apple understands the importance of mobile gaming
It is no secret that smartphones are highly powerful now. The manufacturers have done a great job with the processors. The new A17 Pro chipset is based on a 3nm process and has a beast GPU. However, the hardware is not the complete picture; gaming also requires the support of developers.
Hence, Apple took the chance and brought many developers on board. I was surprised to see “mobile gaming” being discussed for minutes during the event. Some game developers were also featured in the event.
By bringing these big game developers to the event, it shows us that Apple is promoting the culture of mobile gaming. With the help of these big devs, we can push the boundaries with mobile gaming.
It sounds like a dream to me that a flagship Assassin’s Creed game will be available on mobile just sometime after the original release. Soon this will become a norm and we will see big games released on the same day on mobile as other platforms.
